Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new affixes. They can also boost the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the required material or component needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of item names. For instance, adding a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
Once an item has been leveled out in this way, it is capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the type of item it is. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade step will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.
Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building with a known location, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial part of the game, and it can boost an item's damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this via the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn tokens for rerolls. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This could be a positive or a negative thing depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could have a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its strength by a certain percentage. item upgrades are offered into the standard affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the greater your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also has a number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on an item. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in different ways. They can be of different sizes, have none of the elements, or contain a single element. To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Generally speaking, item upgrader and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor.
